Just a quick note that finally made it, arrived in Maui on the 27th of June
and stayed at a local hotel for a week while looking for a rental place. We
moved in a rental place pretty close to downtown, sits on a small hill, it is
actually called "sand hill", pretty good area within walking distances to the
boyz high school.
We were in a shock about the custumer service here, as it does not exist on
this island, it took me almost 2 days just to change my truck liscense plate,
every where we go we get the famous local saying "tri wait" or "No can", took me
5x's just trying to get the boys register, 4x's back and forth with the county
of Maui trying to get my floor plans approved, now I was told now I have to wait
4 to 6wks for them to go through the floor plans.
They really have to do something with the customer service here, but you know
if you say something your paperwork might come up missing or filed in the way
back, so I really don't know what to do, they need a permit for every lil' thing
we are trying to do, need a permit for the house, permit for the rock wall we
are trying to built around the whole property, need a permit for a swimming
pool, need to be approved by the home owner association, need to be approved
certain colors of the house, we can only do this or that....hehehe it is amazing
what we have to go thru just to get a simple thing done around here. and no one
is willing to help or give up any information. So you really have to know
someone to get things done around here. I guess I had high expectation coming
from a fast pace state to a slow pace one...hehehe
Also, I would like to apologized that most likely my family and I will not be
able to attend the reunion this year, as I will be right in the middle of
building my home and most likely will be just start working and won't be able to
take time off. I am sure going to miss seeing everyone in person.
Oh by the way, we see the ferry are now up and running, I am looking forward
taking a trip to Oahu maybe for the weekend, staying at my inlaws place in
Papakolea and come over and visit you sometime soon.
The contractor is anticipating that our house should be ready before the
holidays, hopefully before Christmas, he is a local contractor, highly
recommended, he is bring a crew from California so that is a plus for us as we
know we will most likely meet our deadline moving into our new home, I guess
since there are no casino or gambling on this island I guess I will have to
start playing golf as there is one close by me new home, within walking
distances, actually the gold course is in the middle of my property and the
ocean, I can hear and smell the ocean but can't see it, found a few golf balls
on my property, so don't be surprise if you see me on the local news the new
Tiger Wood....hehe
Ok, I guess I will send this on out to you,
Take care and God bless......
