Polynesian Club:
The Good News for those who are residing in Alaska or
planning to move to the Big State. Lucy Hansen and her
group of computer learners are now forming a Polynesian Club
in Anchrage. Hansen is teaching computer classes to the seniors and others
who needed to learn how to use computers. Majority of
the computer learners in her classes are polynesian people.
While learning computers, they wanted to extend it to an organization
called the Polynesian Club. The place where you can learn and help perpetuate
the native cultural of the Polynesian. We want to share our herritage to
our neighbors and the people of our great State of Alaska.
Polynesian Club's focus is to find a common place where
the people meet and share their culture. To share and
learn from each others through arts and crafts, songs and dances,
and meaai the foods. We are cousins, our languages, our stories, our crafts
and arts are very similar. And, a hope that we may find
the connection to the natives of our greate State of
Alaska.
This year 2006 in Anchrage, Alaska will be another year
of cultural day celebration. It is to commemorate the
raising of the USA Flag in the Territory of American Samoa, 106 years
ago, April 17, 1900. Therefor, here in Anchrage, we will be celebrating
the Flag Day in Jun 30 and July 1st., 2006. It is open
to the public. Please come and enjoy the taste of the
polynesia, polynesian hospitality, the dances, songs, arts and crafts,
and always with the BBQ and kaukau-laulau (foods) in
our selection of food-booths.
